This week the artificial intelligence agenda saw a transformation where chat interfaces are reshaping the search and discovery experience. From Spotify to Google Images, from Microsoft 365 Copilot to Apple's Siri move, every step points in a single direction: users no longer "search", they "discover by chatting". At DijitalPi we have put together this week's developments with the greatest impact on the marketing and business world for you.

Google Images Turns 25: an era of discovery, not search, is beginning

In Images' 25th year, Google is making a major design change. Rather than an empty search box, users will now be met with a gallery of images personalised to their interests and browsing history; that is, the recommendation feed kicks in even before they search.

DijitalPi's Take

Search is becoming a 'discovery' experience rather than an act of 'demand' — a sign that the GEO (generative engine optimisation) debate has spilled over into the visual side too. That change is critical for e-commerce and fashion/retail brands: product images will have to stand out not only through keywords but through the algorithm's logic of 'what does it show this user'. Visual SEO is no longer just meta tags but behavioural signal optimisation. Our recommendation: review your product images' alt text and contextual tagging, and make your visual content strategy a separate budget line for visibility in Google Images' 'For You' gallery.

Spotify Is Now a Chatbot: music discovery happens by talking

Spotify is rolling out a new AI assistant feature offering Premium subscribers the ability to discover music, podcasts and audiobooks by chatting. Called 'Talk to Spotify', the feature appears on the app's home screen and in the Now Playing view.

DijitalPi's Take

Recommendation engines are ceasing to run quietly in the background and starting to talk to the user directly — a warning bell for media and content brands. For podcast producers and music labels, what matters now is not only getting onto a playlist but being in the content pool the chatbot 'recommends'; that is, content descriptions and metadata need to be optimised in natural language for conversation-based discovery. Our recommendation: brands that own content should enrich their product/content descriptions in a question and answer format and test regularly how they appear in conversational assistants of this kind.

A New Limit for Meta's Ad Engine: an artificial intelligence budget per engineer is coming

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, forecasts that companies will soon manage artificial intelligence use the way they manage payroll. According to Mosseri, token spending limits for engineers will become an operational expense line.

DijitalPi's Take

Artificial intelligence is turning from an unlimited resource into an operational expense line that has to be budgeted — and that shift in mindset will spill over into marketing teams too. Agency and in-house teams will now have to track the 'token budget' they spend on AI tools (content production, creative variations, reporting) the way they track media budget; otherwise hidden costs distort ROAS calculations. Our recommendation: gather the monthly cost of the AI tools used in your marketing team into a single dashboard and report AI spend by campaign as a separate KPI.

A Call From DeepMind's CEO: an independent audit body for artificial intelligence

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is proposing an independent standards body similar to FINRA in the finance sector, to test frontier artificial intelligence models and set best practice. Hassabis argues that such a structure is necessary for building global trust.

DijitalPi's Take

The sector is trying to regulate itself, and that shows trust has become the new currency of the economy. For agencies working with corporate clients and for B2B brands, this debate is not a distant regulatory matter; the answer you give to clients' question "is this AI tool trustworthy?" will be part of brand trust. Our recommendation: add the data processing and transparency policies of the AI tools you use to your client presentations, and make 'responsible AI use' part of your brand positioning.
