A quick summary with AI

This week the developments landing directly on marketers' desks stood out in the artificial intelligence world: as Google combines the search experience with apps, the EU competition ruling is opening the Android ecosystem to rivals. Meta's record-breaking engagement figures and Google Vids' personal avatar feature, meanwhile, strengthen brands' hand in content production. At DijitalPi we have commented on this week's developments through our campaign experience in the field.

With Google Vids your brand can now speak with its own avatar

Google is adding a personal avatar feature to its video production tool Vids, letting users create videos with their own digital versions. With new Gemini Omni-supported tools, producing and editing video from text and reference images is also becoming possible.

DijitalPi's Take

Video is turning into a channel that requires prompt-writing skill rather than a production budget. In education, consultancy and B2B services, promotional and product videos using the founder's or a sales representative's face can now be produced at scale without a studio shoot; that directly affects how often the content calendar can run. Our recommendation: create an avatar of your brand spokesperson or someone from your sales team and test it in low-budget, high-frequency social media videos, tracking performance through organic channels.

Summer football 2026 broke records on Meta: the reach opportunity is growing for brands

Throughout the 2026 summer football season, engagement figures reached record levels across Instagram, Threads, Facebook and WhatsApp. Meta announced the period as a historic moment of participation across its platforms.

DijitalPi's Take

Major sporting events are still the moments where digital attention is most concentrated, and that concentration offers advertisers reach at scale. For sports sponsorship, e-commerce and retail brands, high-engagement periods of this kind open a rare window of opportunity for running brand awareness and performance campaigns at the same time. Our recommendation: put similar high-engagement periods in your calendar and, by setting your budget aside for those windows in advance, structure reach-targeted and ROAS (return on ad spend)-targeted campaigns in parallel.

Google is rebranding NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook

Google has changed the name of NotebookLM, its AI-supported research and note-taking tool, to Gemini Notebook. While the tool will remain a standalone app it will integrate more deeply with Gemini and Google Search.

DijitalPi's Take

The name change is not cosmetic but part of Google's strategy of gathering all its tools under a single Gemini roof. For marketing and content teams this means work such as research, preparing briefs and competitor analysis will now talk more smoothly to Google search and the Gemini ecosystem; tool consolidation will speed up in agency and content production processes. Our recommendation: try moving your team's research and brief processes into Gemini Notebook, and fold the speed gain the Search integration provides into your content production flow.

Netflix has stated it made use of artificial intelligence in nearly 300 productions

Alongside its second-quarter 2026 financial results, Netflix announced that it now uses generative artificial intelligence more widely in its content production processes. The company stated it had made use of these technologies in roughly 300 productions over the greater part of the year.

DijitalPi's Take

Content giants now position artificial intelligence not as a pilot project but as a standard production tool. For agencies producing advertising and brand content, this signals that producing more frequent, more personalised creative variations as production time and cost fall is now an expectation rather than an exception; it is directly relevant for e-commerce brands battling creative fatigue in performance advertising in particular. Our recommendation: fold AI-supported variation testing (A/B/C image-video sets) systematically into your creative production process and report the results on a ROAS basis.
